iMas Insurance Learnerships 2026/2027: Everything You Need to Know Before You Apply
Closing date: 7 October 2026. Apply as early as you can.
Looking for a way into the insurance industry without a degree or years of experience? iMas Insurance Brokers, part of the iMasFinance group, has opened applications for three 12-month learnerships. They combine paid workplace experience with structured training and lead to a nationally recognised insurance qualification at NQF Level 4.

What Is a Learnership?
A learnership is a structured programme that mixes classroom-style theory with real work experience. You are placed in a business, learn on the job, and study towards a formal qualification at the same time. You also receive a monthly allowance, so you earn while you learn.
The Three Opportunities
| Programme | Location | What you’ll do |
|---|---|---|
| Short-Term Insurance (Non-Life) | Centurion, Gauteng | Telesales and/or customer service in a call centre |
| Long-Term Insurance (Life) | Centurion, Gauteng | Sales and/or administration in long-term insurance |
| Long-Term Insurance (Life) | Secunda, Mpumalanga | Sales and/or administration in long-term insurance |
Short-term (non-life) insurance covers things like vehicles, homes and businesses. Long-term (life) insurance covers things like life and funeral cover. Choose the track that fits your interests and a location you can reach every day.
What You’ll Gain
- A 12-month fixed-term learnership contract
- A monthly allowance while you train
- Structured theoretical training
- Hands-on experience with coaching and mentoring
- A chance to earn an Insurance qualification at NQF Level 4
What You’ll Learn
The adverts describe learning areas such as:
- Basic research, and using literacy and numeracy to assess risk
- Managing personal finances and understanding financial risk
- Legislation, ethics and compliance in insurance
- Communication, customer service and workplace processes for your track
The adverts don’t give a module-by-module syllabus or name the training provider, so expect more detail if you’re shortlisted.
Who Can Apply?
You need to meet all of these:
- A Grade 12 certificate with Mathematics and/or Accounting
- Currently unemployed
- Not registered for other studies, a learnership, an internship or the YES Programme
- Available to start immediately
- Able to commit to the full 12-month contract
The programme is aimed at unemployed people from previously disadvantaged and designated groups, with preference given to designated groups and candidates with disabilities. No age limit, driver’s licence or work experience requirement is stated.
Skills iMas Is Looking For
- Clear verbal and written communication
- Attention to detail and a customer-service mindset
- Self-motivation, integrity and good time management
- Ability to work under pressure
- An interest in sales and negotiation
For the call centre and sales tracks especially, show that you’re comfortable talking to people and handling targets calmly.
Documents to Prepare
- An updated CV with a working phone number and email address
- Your Grade 12 certificate and results showing Maths and/or Accounting
- Anything else the online form asks for
No cover letter or certified copies are listed as mandatory, but follow whatever the live form requests.
How to Apply, Step by Step
- Choose your programme and location.
- Open the matching link above.
- Read the full vacancy and confirm you qualify.
- Fill in the online form accurately and upload your documents.
- Review everything and submit before 7 October 2026.
No closing time is stated, so don’t wait until the last evening.
Tips to Strengthen Your Application
- Check your spelling and contact details. A wrong number or email is the easiest way to miss an interview call.
- Be honest about your experience. School projects, volunteering, part-time work and customer-facing roles all count.
- Match the track. If you apply for the call centre role, highlight communication and patience. For the life tracks, mention sales interest and admin accuracy.
- Keep your phone close and check your email and spam folder. Because the start is immediate, recruiters may move quickly.
- Prepare to discuss your start date, since you must be available straight away.
What the Adverts Don’t Promise
Be realistic. The adverts don’t guarantee permanent employment after the 12 months, and the qualification depends on successfully completing the programme. They also don’t state the exact start date, daily hours, transport support or number of learners. The allowance amount is shown on each official vacancy page. A previous long-term intake reportedly paid R5,000 a month, but check the current page for the 2026/2027 figure.
Avoid Scams
- Never pay anyone for an application, interview, assessment, training or placement.
- Never share banking PINs, passwords or one-time PINs.
- Be wary of messages that send you to a different application site.
- Use only the official links above, and check the programme name and location before submitting personal details.
Final Word
A learnership like this can give you a recognised qualification, real work experience and a foothold in a growing industry. If you meet the requirements, apply today.
