Motus Corporation Finance & Insurance Internship Programme: Youth Opportunities 2026/2027

Before you read: The two Motus finance listings I found have already closed. The YES Finance Programme in Bloemfontein closed on 1 August 2026, and the Trainee: Finance & Insurance role closed on 31 August 2026. I couldn’t find a newer open listing, so check the portal link below for current vacancies before you prepare an application.

Introduction

Starting a finance career is hard when every entry-level job asks for experience you haven’t had a chance to earn. Motus Corporation’s youth-focused finance and insurance programmes are built to close that gap. They put young South Africans inside a working dealership or finance team, where they learn on the job.

This guide covers what Motus offers, who qualifies, what to prepare, and how to apply.

About Motus Corporation

Motus employs over 20,000 people globally and describes itself as a diversified, non-manufacturing business in the automotive sector. It calls itself South Africa’s leading automotive group, with scale across the whole automotive value chain. It also has long-standing importer, distribution and retail partnerships with some of the world’s best-known vehicle brands.

This matters for finance and insurance interns because Motus’s Mobility Solutions segment sells value-added products and services, including insurance and non-insurance products, consumer mobility solutions and fleet services. A finance or insurance placement here puts you in a large, regulated industry where vehicle sales and financial products go together

The two programmes

1. YES Finance Programme (Motus Retail)

Motus Retail, a subsidiary of Motus Holdings Limited, recruits unemployed, ambitious youth for this programme. Listings have appeared for Bloemfontein and Gauteng. An earlier Gauteng intake ran as an 18-month programme.

Motus lists its benefits as hands-on finance exposure, real workplace experience, and skills that open doors to future opportunities.

Who can apply:

  • South African citizens
  • Aged 18 to 34
  • Currently unemployed
  • Holding a tertiary finance qualification
  • Not previously part of the YES programme

The last point trips up many applicants. YES placements are normally a one-time opportunity, so if you’ve already been on one, you won’t qualify.

2. Trainee: Finance & Insurance (Motus Retail)

This is a 12-month fixed-term contract in Motus Retail’s dealership network. The trainee supports the F&I team with the finance and insurance processes around vehicle sales. simplify

The role offers structured workplace learning. You are exposed to finance and insurance products, customer service, regulatory requirements, dealership processes, and relationships with finance houses and insurance providers.

Duties include learning vehicle finance structures and finance house requirements, gaining exposure to value-added products (VAPs), completing all required training, and preparing finance and insurance documentation accurately and on time.

What you’ll learn

Based on the listings, a finance and insurance placement at Motus can teach you:

  • How vehicle finance deals are structured and what banks and finance houses require
  • What value-added products are and how they are sold
  • How regulation shapes the way finance and insurance are offered to customers
  • How to prepare accurate paperwork under time pressure
  • How to deal with customers, finance providers and insurers

Direct links to apply

Apply only through the official Motus portal. Legitimate Motus applications don’t require a fee, so treat any site or WhatsApp contact asking for payment as a scam.

Everything you need to know before applying

Check the closing date first. Motus listings are short. The windows I found ranged from about a week to a few weeks, so set up alerts and apply early.

Match the exact requirements. The finance programme asks for a tertiary finance qualification. A separate Motus YES Learnership instead asked for matric, citizenship, unemployment, and an age of 18 to 29. Different programmes have different rules, so read each advert closely.

Prepare your documents. Have these ready as clear PDFs:

  • Updated CV (two pages maximum)
  • Certified copy of your ID
  • Qualification certificate and academic transcript
  • Proof of unemployment, if requested

Read the “please attach” section of the advert, because Motus lists what it needs there.

Tailor your CV. Put your finance qualification, relevant modules, and software skills such as Excel near the top. Add any customer-facing experience, even part-time.

Write a short cover letter. Say why you want finance in the automotive industry, what you’ve studied, and what you’d like to learn. Avoid generic lines. Mention one specific thing about Motus, such as its mobility solutions or its dealership network.

Be ready for a shortlisting-only process. Motus has noted in similar adverts that only shortlisted candidates will be contacted. If you hear nothing, assume you weren’t shortlisted, keep applying, and don’t keep chasin

Tips to strengthen your application

  1. Apply within the first few days of a listing opening.
  2. Follow the instructions exactly. Wrong file formats or missing attachments are an easy reason to be screened out.
  3. Keep your email professional and check your spam folder regularly.
  4. Practise interview basics: why finance, why Motus, a time you worked in a team, and how you handle pressure.
  5. Learn the vocabulary: finance house, VAPs, deal structure, and vehicle finance terms.
  6. Apply to several locations. Motus advertises across provinces, so be open to relocating.

Frequently asked questions

Is the programme paid? The finance listings I found don’t state a figure. Related Motus YES adverts mention a monthly stipend in line with YES Programme guidelines. Confirm the details in the specific advert.

Can I apply if I’m currently working? For the YES Finance Programme, no. It targets unemployed youth.

Will it lead to a permanent job? None of the listings promise this. Think of it as a route to experience and a stronger CV, not a guaranteed job.

Do I need a finance degree? For the YES Finance Programme, a tertiary finance qualification is required. Read the Trainee role’s full requirements on its listing.

Final word

If you meet the requirements, a Motus finance and insurance placement gives you real experience in a large South African employer. Since the listings I found have closed, bookmark the Motus portal, set job alerts, and keep your documents ready so you can apply the day the next intake opens.

I can put this in a Word or PDF file or shorten it for a blog post if you’d like.
